I know what your thinking another person giving dieting advice, why should I bother reading this, I have better things to do.  I promise this is going to be different, because I weigh 164 kilos, and I am overweight, and I am going to do something about it.  Come on, come with me as I improve my lifestyle and add years to my life.  Will I succeed in losing weight or yet again fail?  This will be my Weight Loss Menu.

OK we have all been on a diet, and then come off the diet with varying success.  Sometimes with some weight loss other times with no weight loss,  others times still with weight gain.  I’ve been there, but over the years I have put more and more weight on.  Lack of exercise, junk food, and alcohol have all played their part.

I was out the other night and I was talking to a friend who asked me how much I weighed, and I said "I don’t know, probably 24 stone" his mouth fell open.  "Why don’t you do something about it?" he asked, "I tried, but can’t stay motivated".  We sat and chatted for a few hours about the pros and cons of being overweight when suddenly he said "help others!", "what?", "help others, you know a bit about the internet, why don’t you start a web site, where you can lose weight live, write about it, you’ll have to stay motivated, because others will be reading it and be inspired".  We toasted the idea, and when I woke up this morning, guess what?  It’s still a good idea, so I did it.

Right I have sat down and thought this out with a set of notes or to-do items as follows:

1.  Weigh myself

2.  Set a goal

3.  Research Weight Loss

4.  Rethink eating, drinking and snacking

5.  Do some sort of exercise

So let’s have a memory blast of what life is currently like.  When I fly whether on holiday or business, I find that at the airport, I am invariably with some luggage, checking in out of breath and perspiring.  Once through security, sitting on seats that are too small for me, and then its on the plane.  The fear that I see in the eyes of the other passengers as I pass down the aisle, I can almost hear them saying "please don’t sit next to me", and as I pass, a sigh.  Once I get to my seat, I am on the lookout for the stewardess so I can ask for a seat belt extension.  Then the drinks trolley comes and I can’t get the tray table down.  I always pay for extra legroom, but on some flights the extra legroom seats are next to the emergency exits,  but hold on, under current aviation law, only able bodied passengers are allowed to sit in these seats.  As I need an extension belt albeit for the sake of an inch or so, I am considered NOT ABLE BODIED.  I wonder what it will be like in a few months when I have shed the pounds.  We will come back and compare this when I am thinner!!

I am off to do some research to see where I will start.
